Greetings from AFRAM Zone and writing to inform you that we have just finished a workshop on Mission Animation in – Luanda, Angola. For us to be able to understand and focus our attention on mission animation in our various provinces/regions the Mission Secretaries in the Zone were able to go through the directives for Mission Secretaries and came out with the following action plan for our future usage. ACTION PLAN
This workshop is the second of its kind organized in the AFRAM. As we have just finished with this workshop, all that we need from you at the moment is a continuous prayer for our Zone so that our present action plan that we have formulated during this period may turn out to be a fruitful one. May the darkness of sin and the night of unbelief vanish before the light of the Word and the Spirit of Grace: and may the heart of Jesus live in the hearts of all people. Amen. Sincerely yours in the Divine Word Reyes Rolando, SVD AFRAM Area Coordinator for Mission Animation *********************** Last March 8 the AFRAM Mission Secretaries inaugurated their Workshop in the upper floor of the Provincialate House. All the provinces and region were represented: Fr. Pereira, Denis (ANG), Fr. Vattapparayil, Sunny (BOT), Fr. Wojdyla, Franciszek (CNG), Bro. Chamenyi, Rudy Kwame (GHA), Fr. Odeke Owire, William (KEN), Fr. Kpakpayi, Seraphim (TOG), Fr. Galla, Pawel (MAD) and Fr. Rolando Reyes of the Mission of MOZ accompanied by the Zonal Coordinator Fr. Xene Sanchez. The Generalate Mission Secretary Fr. Pio Estepa arrived ahead to prepare the grounds. Fr. Provincial Zeferino Martins and his council members welcomed us with Fr. Rector Daniel Malamba. The Workshop started with the Enthronization of the Bible. The students of Philosophy joined the ceremony and enlivened it with their songs. We prayed that the Holy Spirit himself would animate the Workshop himself. We hope that much would come out of it considering the fact that the majority are newly appointed ones. The reflection on the Mission Secretary’s roles and functions, the challenges of animating confreres in the mission, the search of ways of looking for funds and the involvement of the laity in the SVD today are among the important points in the agenda. The memory of the war is still very fresh. Interestingly the small span of peace has quickly given rise to progress and reconstruction. The capital of Luanda is swarming with of activities and new buildings can be seen everywhere. The number of cars has multiplied creating though lots of traffic jams. The ships on the bay are so many that they have to wait for their turn to dock. Yet as we turn our eyes to the multitude of people struggling for a decent living we are reminded that we still have to do a lot to make the majority happy. We will be sharing more of the Workshop as we come to a conclusion. We thank in advance the confreres of Angola for making us feel at home and for giving us a conducive place for work. Fr.
