Dear Confreres/Chers Confrères, (en FRANçAIS, en vert, merci).
As you get ready for your
trip to Lomé, allow me please, to give you some final useful hints:
Voici quelques dernières
consignes utiles, avant votre départ de chez vous pour Lomé:
1. Several of you were able
to/will soon obtain the Togo visa in your own place/country.
Plusieurs parmi vous ont
déjà obtenu leur visa pour le Togo.
2. To those who needed
invitation letters for visa, on arrival at the Lomé International
Airport, I have already sent them the required documents this afternoon
by email.
A ceux qui avaient besoin
d'une lettre d'invitation pour obtenir le visa à leur arrivée à
l'aéroport de Lomé, je viens de la leur envoyer cet après-midi par
email.
3. All the other confreres, requiring
to obtain the visa at the Ghana-Togo border at AFLAO, coming in via
Accra, please know that you DO NOT NEED any invitation letter from us.
Just come with a valid passport, and at the border immigration desk, ask
for the entry visa, you will get one for a week. As far as I see, no one
is coming alone on that trip from Accra to Lomé, meaning you are coming
in groups/together with one or more confreres. One of us from TOG will
be there at the Aflao/Togo border to receive you, if you let us know by
what time of the day you intend to reach there - you may count just
about three hours from Accra to the Aflao border by taxi/car, other
things remaining the same.
TOUS LES AUTRES confrères,
qui doivent chercher le visa à leur arrivée à la frontière à AFLAO,
venant d'Accra/Ghana, sachez qu'il n'est pas nécessaire d'avoir
une telle lettre. A l'immigration, présentez simplement votre passeport,
demandez le visa d'entrée et vous l'aurez, pour une semaine. L'un de
nous sera à la frontière en tout cas pour vous faciliter la traversée...
4. Both at the airport and
at the Aflao border, the entry visa will cost you only 10.000 f cfa (the
local currency here), which is equivalent to US $25 at the most. So it
is good to have the change in US dollars on your arrival at the airport.
For those coming in via Accra it is possible to change Euros/US dollars
while in Accra into CFA Francs, so that you pay just those 10.000 f cfa
only. (In no case, do you need to pay anything more, please, even if
someone asked you!)
A l'aéroport comme à la
frontière AFLAO, le visa d'entrée ne coûte que 10.000 f cfa (la monnaie
du Togo), l'équivalent de 25 dollars américains. Donc il est bon d'avoir
cet argent en poche avec vous à l'arrivée. Si vous passez par Accra,
changez votre argent en F CFA à Accra, ainsi vous payerez juste les
10.000 f cfa. (Même si on vous demandait pour plus d'argent, n'y payez
rien de plus, de grâce!)
5. All those who obtain
visa here at the airport or at the Aflao border need to get the visas
extended (as I had mentioned in an earlier message). We will get it done once
you are here, for no extra fees. Only bring along FOUR passport size
photographs for this purpose.
Comme je vous l'ai déjà
écrit, si vous obtenez le visa soit à l'aéroport, soit à la frontière à
Aflao, il faudrait le faire prolonger. Nous le ferons une fois que vous
êtes là à Lomé - mais rappelez vous qu'on a besoin de QUATRE photos
d'identité pour cela.
6. ALL those who want to
visit BENIN (on either option ONE or option TWO trips suggested earlier),
please note that we will get the BENIN visa already during the assembly
week itself at the Benin consulate here in Lomé. This will avoid queuing
up at the Togo-Bénin border seeking the visa while crossing borders. For
this again, those confreres will need to bring along TWO (more extra)
pictures. So that makes a total of SIX photos for most of the confreres.
(Let them see how handsome the SVDs are!)
Si vous vous êtes inscrits
pour aller au BENIN, nous allons pouvoir obtenir le visa pour le Bénin,
dans la semaine d'assemblée même au consulat du Bénin ici à Lomé pour
éviter toute tracassérie à la frontière. Pour cela, ayez avec vous DEUX
photos de plus... ça fait un total de SIX photos déjà pour la plupart
des participants.
7. The weather condition here
in Togo-Bénin in the first half of February is anything from pleasant to
warm to hot. So bring along dress to suit such a climate only.
Il fait assez agréable au
Togo-Bénin en février, je veux parler du climat. Certains vont même
transpirer. Donc amenez des vêtements ordinaires pour un climat
tropical.
8. You may want to keep
