A sudden death during a retreat

February 20, 2010. Fr. Justinus TODA, an Indonesian confrere in Ghana was going up Asutsuare mountain as he led a Deanery group of COSRA members retreat. After the meditation on the eleventh station of the Stations of the Cross, Fr. Toda did not get up because he had fallen unconscious. He was brought down the mountain and was rushed to the Akuse Government Hospital. Though the medical staff worked on him for over three hours they could not revive him. Three confreres and about a dozen of his parishioners were present with him at the time of his death. Fr. Toda had been parish priest of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for about three and a half years. Akuse, the place where he died, belongs to his parish. He was also the current District Superior of the Tema-Battor District.
